Western NC Theaters Combine
To Hold
Unified Auditions

Montford Park Players logoThe theater companies in western North Carolina are combining to conduct unified auditions next month, an event cosponsored by the Montford Park Players and modeled after the Southeastern Theatre Conference and National Outdoor Theatre Auditions.

The WNC Unified Auditions, will be Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019, at Owen Theatre at Mars Hill College, 44 College St, Mars Hill, North Carolina.

The event allows local actors and technicians to showcase their talents in a professional audition setting for a variety of companies throughout the region. The auditions have drawn up to 23 theater, media, and talent companies while also developing a database of local actors and technical artists for regional, community, and professional companies.

The day will kick off at 9:30 a.m. with Youth Auditions for those who will not have reached their 18th birthday by May 1. Actor Auditions will be from 10:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. and continue after a lunch break and "mingle time" from 1:30–4 p.m. Technical interviews for designers, directors, stage managers, musicians, and technicians will follow the actor auditions. Dance Auditions for dancers and choreographers will run 4–5 p.m. or start 30 minutes after actor auditions are completed.

For more information and to register, go to www.unifiedauditions.org. Each auditionee will upload his or her information, including a headshot, through the online registration form and pay a $35 registration fee by credit or debit card. Registration fees are nonrefundable.

Actors are asked to prepare 90 seconds of material: one monologue or two contrasting monologues or one monologue and 16 bars of a song. An accompanist will be available. Please bring your own sheet music in your key, as the accompanist will not transpose. Youth actors should present a memorized selection, poem, rhyme, monologue, and, if they wish, sing a song. Singing to tapes is not allowed.

Auditionees will be assigned a registration number, which will be the audition number. The audition number will be assigned in the order in which the registration is received, except that youth actors will audition first.

Registration is strictly limited to 200 actors and technicians.
