"Bard Talks" Webinars Support Readings

The Shakespeare Center  of Los Angeles logoThe Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles has launched Bard Talks, a new interactive Shakespeare webinar series, lectures led by distinguished teachers and leading scholars from universities, libraries, and institutes across the globe. These talks will be presented in conjunction with The Shakespeare Center's professionally staged reading series, which includes Antony & Cleopatra, Love's Labour's Lost, Cymbeline, and Twelfth Night, all directed by Louis Fantasia.

"The aim is to expand access to the greatest scholars of Shakespeare, and share their latest insights about Shakespeare, his times, and his work to lifelong learners and all who wish to explore Shakespeare more deeply," Ben Donenberg, executive artistic director of Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles (SCLA), said in a company press release. "The webinar programming reflects the mission of The Shakespeare Center to ignite personal and community transformation through the words of Shakespeare."

Bard Talks webinars will focus on Shakespeare's timeless themes, production history from the Elizabethan era to today, and investigations into the classic characters at the heart of the four Shakespeare plays. Each webinar will be accessible via live-stream exclusively to the membership of The Shakespeare Center and Bard Talks subscribers.

Memberships with SCLA start at $75 and include a range of benefits in 2019 such as access to all 16 webinars and discounts on tickets to live events and performances. The series, which began last weekend, continues this weekend through next December.

The topics of webinars will be announced at least two weeks before each webinar.

The SCLA has over 30 years of award-winning history in Los Angeles. It offers programs such as Will Power to Youth, an employment program that combines hands-on artistic experience with paid job training for at-risk youth; Will Power to Schools, a program providing professional teacher training and free tickets to students to see Shakespeare; and Veterans in Art, which provides employment, training and educational opportunities for underemployed military veterans.
